東芝のサイトからWindows7用ドライバを落としていれたのだが、WindowsUpdateができなくなるトラブルに遭遇。
HDDを換装したのが悪いのか、SP1適用後に入れたから悪いのかわからないが、もろもろドライバを入れる前はUpdate一覧までは表示されていた。しかし、ドライバ適用後は、リストすらとってこない。次のサイトなども見たが、心あたりがある問題がない。
そんなか、「windowsupdate.log」 というファイルに詳細が書かれているという記事を発見。出てる出てる、エラーが沢山。いろいろあるけど、要するに「error = 0xC8000247」というのが連発してる。

けろちゃん さんは、「Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver」の最新版をLenovoからダウンロードして解決と書かれていた。Rapid Storageが何者かは知らなかったのだが、Intel + Storageということで、HDDドライバ周りと推測。
Intelのサイトで、自動検出をしてみるも、Rapid Storageは出てこない。
そういえば次の東芝ドライバをインストールしたときに「Intel Matrix Storage Manager」がインストールされていた。ドライブの状態などが見れるソフト。
こいつが悪さしてると考えて、Uninstallしたところ。。。WindowsUpdateが動いた！
SP1との相性が悪かったのか、詳しい原因は追究していないのですが、その後は問題出ずに稼働中。こんなところが、Updateにつながるとは想像もしてなかったなぁ。一時は再インストールも覚悟したので、なにわともあれ、なおって良かった。
